A secondary analysis of the buying behaviour of PV end customers

Against the backdrop of the ever changing market situation, it is more important than ever to understand the last link in the distribution chain – the end customer. EuPD Research has recognized long ago that the end customer plays an essential role in the development of the market. The objective of this analysis is to become aware of the needs and requirements of the end customer, as well as to understand their buying habits, how they gain information, their expectations, and to understand what effects their decision to invest in a PV system.

The analysis is based on six qualitative and quantitative studies of installers, PV owners, and of people who are planning on installing a PV system, taking into account the end customer’s demographics, their level of interest, and their attitudes and notions of solar energy. The analysis also reveals the degree to which the market segment has been developed and in which areas action should be taken. Becoming familiar with what motivates the end customer provides an edge over other competitors, making it possible to target potential customers more precisely.
